Laura Garrett enjoys working with clients of all ages, as well as couples and families. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) but also incorporates Strengths-Based, Narrative, and Family Systems therapies, as needed for each client in their unique circumstances. She believes therapy should be a place of understanding, healing, and unconditional acceptance and seeks to provide this environment for each client.

In past work, Laura served as a counselor for students at Samford University, and also children at her local children’s advocacy center. She has a passion for standing alongside clients dealing with recent or past trauma, believing sharing and processing these events can lead to better outcomes, versus keeping them hidden. She also enjoys working with engaged and married couples finding better ways to communicate and respect one another.

Laura is a Nationally Certified, Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Ross Hickman, MBA, LPC-S. She graduated with her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, minoring in parenting and child/adolescent development, both from Liberty University.

Laura and her husband Joe have seven children together, and are enjoying raising the three children they have still at home in Munford, AL.
