What is MCN?

Pathways uses several distinct trauma informed treatment modalities. One of them is Micro Current Neurofeedback (MCN). Recent research has shown that trauma not only affects emotions but also impacts the body and brain. Trauma leaves an imprint on the brain. These imprints can show up as anxiety, depression, trouble sleeping, physical pain, and more. The nervous system can get stuck in a fight, flight, or freeze pattern and Micro Current Neurofeedback (MCN) can help the brain untangle those patterns.

How Does it work?

IASIS MCN starts by reading an EEG of the brain, then sends microcurrent stimulation to the dysregulated areas of the brain. This helps untangle the fight, flight, or freeze patterns and creates a more balanced pattern. Over time, with multiple sessions, the brain will learn to keep itself in a balanced, healthy pattern. In short, IASIS MCN helps the brain heal itself.

What to expect?

To begin, one of our highly trained counselors will connect leads to your head, neck, and sometimes your shoulders using sticky pads. This may leave behind a sticky residue when removed. Your counselor may move the leads to different areas depending on what type of treatment you require. You will not feel anything as you are stimulated using MCN. A mild headache, dizziness, and dehydration may occur after your session. Your counselor will discuss with you what to do should any of these mild symptoms occur.
